Pichi Richi Marathon > Event Overview

Alinta Energy Pichi Richi Marathon Sunday 29th June 2014

For 3 Decades, the Pichi Richi Marathon has been a family fun tradition for people of all ages. Participants love getting out in the community, mixing, mingling, keeping fit and supporting charity at the same time!

Walk • Jog • Run - the choice is yours. 4 Separate length legs of the marathon allow you to choose a distance perfect for you time availability or fitness level.

All legs follow the same route, simply starting at different times / points along the route, allowing all participants to finish at the Quorn Oval Complex at about the same time for a drink / bite to eat, plus an opportunity to share your experiences with others!

The Rotary Club of Port Augusta looks forward to receiving your Registration now in one of the following options:-

FULL MARATHON - 42km
starts at 7.30am
check-in table opens at 7am
Please Note that new registrations will not be taken on the day.

Full Marathon Competitors must be 18 years or over on race day.

Leaves from the Best Western Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, on the corner of Highway 1 and 87, Port Augusta and finishes at the Quorn Oval Complex.

Marathon Competitors run with the traffic along Highway One till the Quorn turn-off, then cross the road and stay to the right-hand side of the road until the finish. Drink stations are positioned along the route.

HALF MARATHON - 22km
start at 9am - Walk
check-in table opens at 8.30am  - check-in at least 15 minutes before start.
Please Note 
that new registrations will not be taken on the day.

Half Marathon Competitors must be 16 years or over on race day.

Leaves from the half way point Saltia Creek Crossing and finishes at the Quorn Oval Complex.

10.5KM MARATHON
start at 10am
check-in table opens at 9.30am check-in at least 15 minutes before start.
Please Note 
that new registrations will not be taken on the day.

10.5km Marathon Competitors must be 14 years or over on race day.

Leaves from the three-quarter point Old Willows Brewery Restaurant 10.5km out from Quorn and finishes at the Quorn Oval Complex

5KM MARATHON
start at 11am
check-in table opens at 10.30am check-in at least 15 minutes before start.
Please Note 
that new registrations will not be taken on the day.

5km Marathon Competitors must be 10 years or over on race day.

Leaves from Four Winds Farm Gate and finishes at the Quorn Oval Complex

FUN RUN option - 1km
starts at 11.30am

All entrants should check in and collect the race bibs at the Quorn Oval clubrooms at 11am, so they can walk over to the start line as a group.

1km Fun Run Competitors must be 10 years or under on race day.

Please Note that new registrations will not be taken on the day.

Leaves from the Quorn Caravan Park and finishes at the Quorn Oval Complex. Please drive through the main street and come in from the North to the starting line to avoid congestion for the other events coming into town.


A true 'fun for the whole family' event in the lead up to the next day's Marathon.

Pasta night is a terrific event run by the Lions Club of Port Augusta, this is a fun way to mix with other registrants the night before. Get a feed of carbs to get yourself prepared.

Why not get strategic .. use this as an opportunity to sus-out your competitors strategy for the next day!!  ;-)

When you REGISTER ONLINE for the Marathon, you can add and pay for Pasta Night and a seat on the Bus as an option.


• RACE FACILITIES
After the race Hot Showers are available at the Quorn Caravan Park (bring your own towel), plus there will be a BBQ on Quorn Oval plus Tea, Coffee, Soup, etc. Proceeds support charity.

Personal drink bottles for runners can be given to an organisation member before the start of the event and should be clearly labelled with the runners' name and drink stop (see mud map to the right).

• 2 PRE-RACE INFORMATION / LAST CHANCE REGISTRATION SESSIONS
Committee members will be available for two separate Pre-Race information /last chance registration sessions. At these sessions, race numbers will be distributed to all participants, plus any T Shirts / Singlets / Merchandise will be handed out and marathon organisers will be available for any other race enquiries.

Friday 26 June - between 4pm and 6pm
Quorn Civic Centre Council Chambers, 1 Seventh Street, Quorn.

Saturday 27 June between 10am and 3pm
Institute Building, Commercial Rd, Port Augusta.
